This process is a closed-loop system that uses an organic working fluid with a lower boiling point than water; the fluid is vaporized by waste heat to drive a turbine and generator, then condensed back into a liquid to repeat the cycle. A defining feature of this technology is its ability to achieve up to 50% higher efficiency than competing solutions in the 75°C to 120°C range, where conventional steam power struggles. While international competitors often require large-scale facilities or higher temperatures, Climeon's systems are reportedly compact, modular, and easy to install.
By capturing the roughly 50% of global energy currently lost as waste heat, Climeon provides a "baseload" power source available 24/7. This reportedly complements intermittent renewables like solar and wind, potentially fundamentally changing the global energy infrastructure.
