<aside> 💡 Just attaching to a smartphone, anyone can receive ophthalmic consultations anytime and anywhere.

OUI Inc. (Headquarters: Tokyo, hereinafter referred to as the company) is a university-launched venture company founded by active ophthalmologists with the mission of "Reducing global blindness by 50%!" According to the company's website, the global population of visually impaired individuals is 44 million, and it is projected to triple to over 120 million in 30 years. More than half of the causes of blindness, such as cataracts, can be treated to restore vision with proper diagnosis and treatment. By using the Smart Eye Camera developed by the company, observations of the eyelids, cornea, anterior chamber, iris, lens, and vitreous body can be conducted, enabling the diagnosis of ophthalmic diseases such as cataracts, similar to conventional slit lamp microscopy.

The term "Smart Eye Camera" refers to the attachment for smartphones, and by affixing it to a smartphone, it can realize the aforementioned slit lamp microscopy camera functions. Furthermore, by utilizing a dedicated application and image filing system, remote ophthalmic consultations are possible. This allows anyone, anywhere, at any time to undergo ophthalmic examinations. Not only within Japan but also in communication with ophthalmologists in developing countries with limited medical facilities, Doctor-to-Doctor consultations are now feasible.

We have high expectations for the future of this company, which claims to co-create new value by combining the power of medical, engineering, and business experts with that of medical professionals around the world. (AS)
